The below provides a summary of IT services and capabilities we provide to volunteers and members.

We are currently using a donated laptop in the shop, the laptop runs open sourced software on a linux operating system (http://www.lubuntu.net/). It is possible to pick up university wfi in the shop, although the signal is often weak. As most of our IT systems are operated online brinigng your own laptop to the shop is a good option if you want to get shop work done.

We currently have a web hosting package with Web Architects, a Sheffield-based workers co-operative.

Specifically we are currently on the 'Database S' hosting plan which provides

• 1GB Disk Space
• 1 MySQL database (currently used for our Wordpress blog)
• PHP/CGI/SSI
• Web / SFTP access

This space is currently used for a Wordpress blog (http://greenbikeproject.net) and a DokuWiki (https://wiki.greenbikeproject.net.archived.website). For access to the blog/wiki see below.

We current have a hosted email account with Web Architects which gives us a single 1GB inbox for contact@greenbikeproject.net.

We can also alias this to other addresses (for marketing purposes etc.) of the form <alias>@greenbikeproject.net .

The email can be accessed with the username 'contact.greenbikeproject.net' either online through webmail:

or through IMAP/POP. The specific server settings can be found at the link below.

This email address is also acessible by opening thunderbird on the shop laptop.

If you want to access the Wordpress blog you will need to be assigned a username & password by the IT admin.

We operate a google docs folder that contains most of our important docuents and spreadsheets. We also use it collaboratively to write funding applications and other documents. To gain access to it please contact the IT admin. Additonally the email contact@greenbikeproject.net has access to the gdocs folder.

To gain access to the wiki you will need an account.

Access to various parts of the wiki (including this page) depends on your permissions. If you don't think you have the right permissions speak to the IT admin. Unless specified otherwise you will start with the permissions of the 'user' group.

We currently operate two emails lists. One is for mailing out to the general membership and public. The other is intended for use by directors, active members and volunteers. The lists are run by mailman. The list is moderated by the IT Admin.

It is possible to sign up to the general list at the bottom of every page on the website. http://www.greenbikeproject.net.archived.website/about-us/contact-us-2/ This has been made possible because of a mailman widget installed on the wordpress theme

We also run an inner mailing list - ask at a meeting or speak to one of the directors to be added to this list.
